I’m very lucky to be the official magician at Everton FC – performing at Goodison Park every home match for the match/ball/left sock sponsors and members of the various lounges. It’s a role I’ve had for over five years now and going back is always a joy.
What’s great is that I perform at other events they hold too, such as the “End of Season awards night”, held at the prestigious St George’s Hall in Liverpool.
As you can see from the photo above, this isn’t just your average awards night. Everton go all out with the celebration and, with over 700 guests, there’s a lot of food, entertainment and people to look after.
For event planners awards nights, more than any other type of corporate event, have the most elements to juggle. There is food to coordinate and serve, but, between the courses, you have to present awards, call people to the stage, get them up onto the stage – without them breaking their necks – and without taking so long that it’s now 4am, you’re still only halfway through and you’ve lost 3 of the people you just gave long service awards to.
It’s the same for Everton’s end of season awards. There are lots of performers to look after, the event is hosted by Sky Sports presenter Jim White, there are video packages, interviews, games of charades and lots of special surprises (OK, I put in “games of charades” just to check you were paying attention!).
As a magician, my job was to perform during the cocktail reception, performing strolling magic for guests as they arrived, before they were called through to be seated. For a night like this, this is the perfect time to book a magician; it helps create a great atmosphere for the evening, as well as providing cover for possible delays.
The team were happy as everything ran to time and worked perfectly. I was very happy because, after my performance, I got to have a fabulous buffet meal, so, while players and sponsors were giving out and receiving awards, I got to sit down and grab some food and chat with the other acts.
If you’re planning an awards ceremony, and want to make it fabulous for your guests, why not get in touch and tell me all about it. I’ll tell you how I can make YOUR night a huge success – even if you don’t have a buffet available for the magician!
If you’re having a party, wedding or event in the near future, you’re probably worried about keeping your guests happy. Let me get rid of that problem for you. I’m a magician and comedian who’s not only amazing, but funny too. I can get your guests laughing and having a fabulous time at YOUR next event.
